Expanded Gaming in Kentucky

The Future of Eastern Kentucky (TFEK) is excited to announce our developing partnership with Raven Rock Entertainment to support the expansion of gaming in Kentucky. This emerging industry has the potential to generate billions in new revenue, strengthen our local economies, and provide critical funding to stabilize the Teachers’ Retirement System and State Workers’ Pension Plans—two systems that our Commonwealth depends on.

We are currently promoting a statewide petition on Change.org, and we are encouraged by the introduction of Representative Keene’s House Bill 190 – AN ACT relating to the expansion of gaming and making an appropriation therefor. This legislation represents a major opportunity for every underserved and economically distressed community in the state, especially here in Eastern Kentucky.

For decades, Kentuckians have shown strong support for expanded gaming. Meanwhile, states across the country have already benefited from regulated casinos, off-track betting, and state-sponsored lotteries—gaining tourism, job creation, and new revenue streams. Kentucky deserves the same opportunity.

While concerns about gambling addiction are valid, research and real-world data show that the small percentage of individuals affected are already participating through unregulated or out-of-state options. Legal, regulated gaming creates a safer environment, provides funding for addiction support programs, and keeps Kentucky dollars in Kentucky.

The truth is simple:
We need expanded gaming.
We need the increased tourism, the tax revenue, the employment opportunities, and the secondary industries that follow population growth and economic movement. Kentucky cannot remain competitive if we continue to turn away industries that thrive in every neighboring state.

This is how a free-market economy works—we cannot allow outdated barriers to block new opportunities for our people.

When casinos are built and operational, entire communities will benefit—from hotels, restaurants, and small businesses to construction, logistics, and local service providers. Expanded gaming can be a cornerstone of economic revival across all of Eastern Kentucky.

TFEK is committed to advocating for progress, diversifying our economy, and giving our region a real chance at long-term success.
